A bit about me

Originally from the Seattle area, I left the US for most of my 20s, not long after graduating from the University of Washington (with a major in Marketing and probably 90% of a minor in Creative Writing). I bought a one-way ticket to India, with plans to solo travel Asia for 6 months or so.

However, I quickly realized how much I enjoyed "slow-travel," and decided I wanted to keep the trip going. My personal blog helped me land some freelance writing gigs (and later an SEO strategist role) to fund further travels, and I ended up spending the rest of my 20s living in nearly 30 different countries — with most of that time spent in India, Thailand, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Iceland.

If you've spent time in the backpacker routes of Thailand or Latin America, you're probably familiar with the "digital nomad" culture that developed in those places, years before the pandemic lockdowns made everyone else remote. From new friends I learned about ecommerce as an accessible way to build something new and fund further travels in the process, and so decided to start a business... without much of a clue what I was doing.

Through more mistakes than I can count, I built some useful business skills, which helped me land a great role at a SaaS startup, where the founders were generous enough to invest in my growth. When I came back to the US for good in 2022, I joined a marketing agency, providing marketing strategy (as well as written content and copy) for clients, on top of building out internal strategy for the agency's HubSpot consulting services.

But wait, there's more

Outside of work, I’m usually writing, reading, or making music with friends as a hobbyist vocalist and producer. I’m a curious tech nerd who loves finding creative ways to solve everyday problems, whether building automations to 10x my productivity at work, or using AI to understand new topics quickly. It probably comes as no surprise I grew up as the go-to tech support in my family.
